BONZZAJ RECORDINGS

10 years ago Bonzzaj was birth in a small city called Leuk embedded in the swiss canton of Valais, a stone’s throw away from ticino and italy, a place distinguishing itself through excellent wines, rugged mountains, much sun and some sort of desert-like lonelyness.

A bunch of people startet organising concerts and partys in special location's like the beautiful castle of Leuk in Valais. The sucess of the Bonzzaj nights was great and a strong company of people (djs, producers, music lovers) was growing up. Later, Bonzzaj started hosting a radioshow on Radio Rabe in Berne and startet the clubnights "Play more Jazz" at Sous-Soul and "NEAT" at Formbar in Berne. In Basel the are responsible for the "Bon Voyage sessions" at the Cargo Bar. Over the years there have been many guests like Earl Zinger, Mark de Clive-Lowe, Dimlite, Titonton Duvante, Mike Huckaby, Basic Soul Unit, Mono/Poly, Clara Hill, etc.

In 2006 they started their own Label Bonzzaj Recordings and built a plattform for young talented producers. The past few years saw various releases, mostly 12”s, from artists all over the world in all different genres and directions. What they all seem to have in common is an electronic groove that is almost impossible to convey with words but has been. The label has grown stronger with releases by locals such as their warhorse Nemoy, Echo Skill Hifi, Soul Sociedad, Jagged, Filewile as well as releases by international artists such as Creative Swing Alliance, Sam Irl & Dorian Concept, Kid Swing, Side Hustle.
The music of bonzzaj recordings is different and openminded.

Guest Mix by Jacob Kelly (E.A.R.)

Jacob Kelly’s idea for E.A.R (Eclectic Avenue Records) has been built up over the many years that he has been involved in the music scene.
Back in the late 1980s, Jacob began to collect music and by the mid 1990s he was out using his vinyl collection to entertain people, DJing in the UK, in Europe and in the United States.
As his knowledge of making house music grew, Jacob started working in the studio.
His first release “Acid by Numbers” was released on the legendary Music For Freaks label and this was a great start to his production career. Since then, he has released on labels such as Minority Music, 3am Recordings, Artizan, Paranoid Music and the list goes on…
Some people will also associate Jacob with one of the strongest underground house labels to come from the UK - Baker Street Recordings.

Started in 2006 with label partner Paul Hardy, Baker St. was born with the vision to put out strong house music and released some of the top producers in the house world including, Demarkus Lewis, Jacob London, Lil’ Mark, James Curd, Miles Maeda, Sasse, Moodymanc, Justin Harris and Hector Moralez to name but a few.

And if this wasn’t enough, Jacob then was asked to host an eclectic radio show for Galaxy FM. His wife JoJo was already “Radio Royalty” and they were given their own UK wide FM show every week on Sunday from 2am – 6am. As Galaxy had full confidence in their musical knowledge, they were given a VERY rare opportunity in radio - not to have any play list!
The show was a huge success having some of the highest listening figures in the UK playing anything from Disco, Funk, Soul, Punk, Reggae and a splash of Deep House.

In 2010, after collecting all of this experience, Jacob wanted to start something he had been planning for years - a serious record label for serious music. E.A.R (Eclectic Avenue Records) was born. Jacob sold his half of Baker St. to give E.A.R his full commitment.
E.A.R is designed to be, as the name suggests, an avenue for eclectic music. This way the label cannot be pigeonholed and is able to release music from any genre forming a sustainable, strong label.

Mysterious are the paths on which music travels, and one of them leads into and now finally out of the basement of Nemoy, born and grown up in Steg City, a small village embedded in the Swiss canton of Valais, a stone's throw away from ticino and italy, a place distinguishing itself through excellent wines, rugged mountains, much sun, some sort of desert-like lonelyness and a strong company between people. Nemoy is obsessed with instruments, addicted to collecting and learning how to play and incorporate them into his musical vision. synthesizers, pianos, organs, horns, basses... you name it. Even when he gets to grab the mic with his rapgroup "Stockitown", he often adresses the topics that make his world: samples, breakbeats, their sources, beatmaking, vibing to music... Nemoy is a child and devotee of the great contributors in Jazz, Funk, Reggae, Soul... or short: Black music in its many old and new outlets.
